vaginal dryness signs symptoms

Vaginal dryness: it’s something few women wish to discuss with a partner, friends, even with their doctors.

But why?

Is it because it seems “unsexy” to experience dryness? Or is it because individual women assume that, since it’s rarely a topic of conversation, they are the only ones to suffer from it?

Whatever the reason is, I am here to tell you that vaginal dryness is perfectly normal and completely natural! AND, you don’t have to suffer with it.

Although loss of vaginal moisture is most common among women who have passed menopause, it can affect younger women due to hormonal issues (during breast feeding for example) or as a side-effect of taking certain medications, such as those prescribed for asthma or containing antihistamines.

It is a condition that is widespread, with 85 per cent of postmenopausal women experiencing symptoms and 40 per cent having pain with intercourse as a result of dryness.

The medical remedy for menopausal vaginal dryness is estrogen which works but increases the risk of cancer and heart disease.

You can restore the pH balance of your vagina and restore moisture with the following steps.

  1. Frequent Sexual Activity

Continuing to have regular vaginal sexual activity (alone or with a partner) through menopause helps keep the vaginal tissues thick and moist and maintains the vagina’s length and width. This helps keep sexual activity pleasurable. Allow more time for sexual arousal and expression.

Because of the lack of vaginal mucus, a menopausal woman generally is slower to lubricate in response to sexual arousal (see next step). And remember, foreplay starts in the mind so if you are stressed, tired, not feeling well, upset with your partner or in a bad mood, this will hinder any physical attempts at intimacy.

  1. Use Natural Lubricant

Let me save you a LOT of trial and error. Most commercial lubricants will make your tissues drier in the long run. And please do NOT use petroleum products such as Vaseline or KY gel – these are not safe or effective.

Use O’My Natural Lubricant instead.  I love O’My.  I wish I had bought shares in the company (you can purchase it in my online store)!!!

O’My Natural Personal Lubricant provides extra lubrication to any situation. It is made especially for women and is formulated to mimic a woman’s natural lubricant.

O’My Natural makes use of a gentle formula that’s safe for frequent use as it contains no potentially harmful parabens, sugar or artificial flavorings, all of which can irritate sensitive skin.

It just has safe, slick ingredients that enhance your pleasure and comfort. It is non-staining and compatible with all materials including silicone and latex, plus, it’s fantastic for skin to skin contact.

  1. Increase Estrogen Levels and Estrogen Utilization

Vaginal dryness is most often a direct consequence of decreased estrogen.  When estrogen levels drop in menopause (one year without periods), it can take a few years for the effects to be noticed, but eventually the drop in estrogen leads to dryness and thinning of cells in the vagina and genital area.

The difference between women that experience vaginal dryness and the ones who don’t is whether or not you can produce and utilize enough estrogen within your body.

My Menopause e-manual, sections one through nine are designed to help you produce and utilize estrogen in balance with all of your other hormones. It is an instant download.  Honestly, $10.00 for this e-manual is a steal of a deal.

In a nutshell, the most important step in increasing your own estrogen production is restoring adrenal function.  Look at the chart below.  Healthy adrenal function will allow you to produce your back up supply of estrogen and testosterone.  Once you stop menstruating, there is only a tiny supply of estrogen produced by your ovaries and at that point, it is up to your adrenal glands to meet your bodies requirements.

Too much stress and a lack of specific nutrients will cause Adrenal Fatigue. And too much stress can cause your hormone cascade to flow toward making cortisol rather than estrogen.

How you can make more DHEA, estrogen and testosterone is to lower stress rejuvenate and your adrenal glands. You can read more about adrenal recovery here…

  1. Get Quick Relief With Mae

mae vaginal suppository restore personal moisture

Depending on the severity of your vaginal dryness, some women will find Mae is all they need to restore moisture.  If vaginal dryness is severe, you can get relief with Mae while restoring your adrenal function to increase your estrogen levels naturally.

The all-natural formulation contains no water or alcohol, both of which dehydrate the delicate mucous membrane of the vagina over time. Instead, Mae contains emollient plant butters for silky lubrication.

Mae takes a few weeks for most women to obtain results. However, Mae’s all-natural composition makes it suitable for long-term use.

Suggested Use: For healthy, natural moisture, to make sex fun again, and support optimal vaginal pH at any age, use one ovule vaginally every 3 days at bedtime. First time users can begin with 1 ovule vaginally for 10 days, followed by 1 ovule vaginally every 3 days.

NOTE: this product is not a lubricant, it restores natural moisture.  For lubrication I recommend O’My Natural Lubricant.

Mae is not safe with latex condoms. Non-latex condoms are available at your local drugstore.

Mae has all of the good:

  • Natural kokum & cocoa butters
  • Sea buckthorn extract
  • Sucrose
  • Vitamin E

And none of the bad:

  • Parabens
  • Petroleum
  • Water/alcohol base
  • Perfumes
  • Stabilizers

PS: this amazing product isn’t just for menopausal women, it’s for sexually active women of all ages, cancer patients, postpartum moms, bacterial vaginosis, prolapse, and vaginal atrophy.

Recurring UTI’s or bacterial Vaginosis?

Mae can help.  The cells that form the vaginal walls produce natural sugars that support the healthy flora (good bacteria) in the vagina. These bacteria in turn secrete lactic acid, which helps maintain optimal vaginal pH.

The correct pH keeps unhealthy bacteria in check and reduces the likelihood and incidence of infections. When the vaginal walls thin, the natural sugars are depleted. This causes the pH to become less acidic and so infections are more likely to develop.

For women of ALL ages, menstrual blood and semen from intercourse can also disrupt vaginal pH causing bacterial vaginosis.  Mae contains a natural sugar (sucrose) that supports healthy bacterial growth and therefore helps reduce infection.

A sister product to Mae is Cleo labial cream in pump bottle.

Cleo labial cream

Labial dryness can be caused by all sorts of life events. Cleo is an all-natural moisturizing cream that is applied to your Labial skin (vaginal lips) to soothe and moisten the area outside the opening of your vagina.

Note: Cleo is not meant to be used internally or as a lubricant.

progesterone deficiency

  1. Bio-Identical Progesterone Can Help Wake Up Estrogen Sites

You must produce enough estrogen, but you must also utilize the estrogen that you have.  You can wake up your estrogen receptor sites in your vagina by applying 10 mg of progesterone cream once a day intravaginally.  If you are already using progesterone topically, then use some of your daily application to apply vaginally.

Vaginally, use the progesterone cream for 4-5 days, stop for 2-3, repeat.

I am not allowed by law to sell bio-identical progesterone cream, but I can email you a link of where you can buy it. Contact me via email at maximumresults@shaw.ca

If you have tried all the above and you aren’t having any significant results, as a last resort you can go onto step 6.

  1. Bio-Identical Estrogen and Progesterone Can Help

If you have severe vaginal atrophy, you may have to temporarily use bio-identical estrogen cream.  You apply a little bit vaginally every day.

Even though it is a small amount of estrogen, it must be balanced with progesterone cream which you will apply to your skin (use for 21 days and then stop for 7 days, repeat).

I DO NOT AGREE WITH PROGESTERONE PILLS CALLED PROMETRIUM

As soon as you feel lubricated again with the estrogen (and this can happen quickly), then cut the estrogen to every other day.  After 2 to 3 weeks at every other day, see if you can maintain lubrication with bio-identical estrogen cream applied vaginally every third day.  After 2 to 3 weeks, try to maintain lubrication using the bio-identical estrogen cream only once a week.

It is important to use as little as possible, but enough to create and maintain vaginal moisture. I would use the Mae in between applications of estrogen cream.

If you need to go back to more frequent applications of estrogen, then do so but always try to reduce the dosage after at least a 3-week period of time.

You can decrease the progesterone cream to match the estrogen use. One application of estrogen per week, then only one application of progesterone is needed.  And if you stop using the estrogen cream, you can stop using the progesterone cream.

Although, progesterone is VERY SAFE to use long term and it is one of my recommendations to help keep your bones strong.

progesterone cream strong bones

Osteoclasts are responsible for aged bone resorption and osteoblasts are responsible for new bone formation.

Estrogen slows down osteoclast activity, but it is progesterone that stimulates osteoblast activity!!
