Did You Guess?

The answer is “a dysfunctional liver”.

Of course, your liver is working or else you would be dead, but it just might not be functioning to the best of its ability. And if it isn’t, you can be suffering with a whole host of symptoms such as the list above and more.

This information isn’t just for very sick people or heavy drinkers, it APPLIES TO YOU TOO!

Setting the Record Straight

1. You Can’t Rely on Blood Tests

Yes, there are blood tests to determine if your liver is suffering from an infectious disease or drug and alcohol related liver damage. Unfortunately, a large amount of liver tissue must be damaged before these tests reveal abnormality.

The state in which no outright disease exists yet the liver is not functioning optimally is known as “liver dysfunction” or “subclinical liver dysfunction”.

2. Non-Drinkers Can Still Have Issues

Most people will automatically assume that alcohol is the biggest stress to their livers.  However, someone who has never touched a drop of alcohol or who drinks moderately are very much at risk of “subclinical liver dysfunction” too!

Toxins and nutritional deficiencies are the most common causes of “liver dysfunction”.

NO ONE IS IMMUNE

Given that it is impossible to escape toxicity and get a nutrient complete diet, everyone’s liver is going to be suffering from at least some level of “liver dysfunction”.

ISN’T IT TIME YOU TOOK PROPER CARE OF YOUR LIVER?

If you have any true desire to improve your health, “Liver Tune Ups” are super important.

Why?

love your liver

Your liver performs over 500 functions for you.  These are the…..

TOP 10 BENEFITS OF A LIVER TUNE UP

1. HORMONE BALANCE

The liver plays a HUGE role in keeping you hormonally balanced by metabolizing hormones after they have served their messenger function to their target cells.

This means that your liver will “dispose” of excess estrogen after it has been used.  If the liver does not metabolize estrogen properly, estrogen dominance can result creating PMS symptoms such as heavy periods, cycle related headaches and migraines, sore breasts, weight gain, and more.

The biggest concern is that women with estrogen dominance are at the highest risk of developing breast cancer.

2. HELPS ELIMINATE WATER RETENTION AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

Aldosterone is a hormone released by the adrenal glands. It increases the reabsorption of sodium and water and the release of potassium in the kidneys.

If aldosterone is not broken down efficiently by the liver, water retention and /or high blood pressure can be the result.

3. FAT CONTROL

fat control

Your liver is largely responsible for whether you store fat or burn fat and that includes the fat on your body (predominately your belly) and the fat in your blood.

4. LOWERING CHOLESTEROL

Your liver oversees making cholesterol when you need it and disposing of it when you have too much.  Excess cholesterol will be converted by the liver (with the help of vitamin C) into bile to be eliminated via your colon.

A bit of crazy making: The drugs that are prescribed for lowering cholesterol are so toxic to the liver cells, it cannot do its job properly to excrete excess cholesterol.  Therefore, a person who takes statins will be stuck on cholesterol lowering medication forever, never correcting the underlying problem.

Sadly, they will also develop other health issues as the liver becomes more and more injured from the toxicity of these drugs.

5. IMPROVED THYROID FUNCTION

Your liver converts the thyroid hormone T4 into its more active form T3.

Inadequate conversion of T4 to T3 by the liver may lead to hypothyroidism, fatigue, weight gain, poor memory, severe and/or frequent hot flashes and night sweats, depression or mood swings, sleep disturbances, constipation or irregular bowel function, “fuzzy” thinking, reduced sex drive and a host of other problems.

6. BETTER NUTRIENT ASSIMILATION

Everything you eat and drink is digested in the stomach and intestines, then absorbed through the intestinal walls into the bloodstream.  The liver then converts these nutrients into substances that the body can use or stores these substances and supplies cells with them when needed for energy, growth, and cell repair.

If your liver becomes congested and stops functioning at full capacity, some nutrients do not get converted and distributed properly, then a multitude of health problems associated with nutritional deficiencies can result.

7. DETOXIFICATION

Every minute of every day about two quarts of blood pass through the liver. When the liver is functioning at full capacity, it can filter about 99% of the toxins out of your blood before it is sent back through the body.

Unfiltered toxins can travel everywhere your blood goes (which is of course, to every cell of your body) causing achy joints, foggy thinking, skin conditions such as psoriasis, etc.

8. ALLERGY RELIEF

allergy relief

Reactions to allergens produce histamine. Your body tries to produce adrenaline to eliminate this histamine but when there is too much histamine or if the adrenal glands are exhausted and can’t produce enough adrenaline, a healthy liver can remove the excess histamine from your body.

If your liver is unable to denature the histamine, not only will you continue to have allergic reactions, the histamine builds up in the body leading to new or more severe allergic reactions.

9. IMMUNE FUNCTION

The liver plays an important role in immunity both in specific defense mechanisms and by removing bacteria from the blood.

10. SLEEP

naturally deep sleep

According to traditional Chinese medicine, energy is drawn inwards to restore the body during sleep.  The liver typically governs the hours between 1:00 and 3:00 AM, so if you have multiple or consistent awakenings during these times, it could be a symptom of liver dysfunction or unresolved emotional frustrations (which contribute to liver congestion).
