Triclosan distress to liver

Triclosan is a chemical found in antiperspirants/deodorants, mouthwashes, soaps, hand sanitizers, detergents, toothpaste, and household cleansers. In addition to cosmetics, triclosan is also used as an antibacterial agent in laundry detergent, facial tissues, and antiseptics for wounds, as well as a preservative to resist bacteria, fungus, mildew and odors in other household products that are sometimes advertised as “anti-bacterial.” These products include garbage bags, toys, linens, mattresses, toilet fixtures, clothing, furniture fabric, and paints.

So what is the big deal?

Triclosan accumulates in fatty tissues and is then stored there.  Triclosan causes great distress to the liver.  Studies have shown that Triclosan can combine with chlorine in tap water to form chloroform gas, which is classified as a human carcinogen (a carcinogen is any substance that is directly involved in causing cancer).

Triclosan doesn’t easily degrade and can build up in the environment after it has been rinsed down the shower drain.

The new warning on Triclosan is that overuse could cause resistant strains of bacteria to develop, in much the same way that antibiotic resistant bacterial strains are emerging.  This is because Triclosan behaves like an antibiotic.

Triclosan can pass through skin and is suspected of interfering with hormone function (endocrine disruption). U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention scientists detected Triclosan in the urine of nearly 75 per cent of those tested (2,517 people ages six years and older).

IMMUNITY: Some Immune Distress Is Needed If You Want To Be Healthy

antibacterial products

Using all these antibacterial products are not only killing the good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria but, if we continue down this road of germ-free living, our bodies will never have a chance to build immunity against those bad bacteria to be able to deal with them effectively.

If there is no distress, your immune system doesn’t learn to defend itself.  If you try to maintain a sterile environment, your body will never learn how to do its job.

We have been programmed to believe that it is all the germs on your hands and counters that are giving you the flu.  But this is not entirely true.

You get the flu when you are exposed to germs because your body is constantly being bombarded with poisons and toxic products.  These disrupt your immune system.  Now add poor nutrition and stress and you have a weakened immune system that allows opportunistic bacteria to invade and replicate causing illness.

Those germs and viruses aren’t a problem if we had healthy immune systems in the first place.  That is why some people always “catch a cold or the flu” and some people never do.

Keep that in mind before you run out to get this year’s flu shot.  See “Flu Shots Are Not the AnswerGO HERE   See “Top 7 Rules For Avoiding A Cold Or FluGO HERE and “What To Do At the First Sign of A Cold/Flu”, GO HERE.

HAND SANITIZERS: Are They Making You Healthier or Sicker?

hand sanitizers contain alcohol

And while we are talking about bacteria, what about those gel hand sanitizers, such as Purell?  These types of hand sanitizers contain alcohol along with fragrance (toxic) and colour (toxic).  They are meant for periodic use in a pinch when you can’t get to a place to wash properly with soap and water.

The problem arises when it becomes a substitute for hand washing. There are ‘sanitation stations’ almost everywhere now; at the Dr.’s office, in the grocery store, and at the mall.  Parents are even sending their kids to school with some in their backpacks.  It’s bordering on ridiculous how germ-phobic we are becoming.

What happened to actually washing our hands?  Washing hands with plain soap and water, and I mean REALLY washing, is enough to eliminate the harmful germs/viruses without creating harmful side effects. (And remember, we don’t want to eliminate ALL bacteria anyway).

Hand washing better than hand santitizers
